Searching for meaning in the new millennium

Langley, British Columbia—The first International Conference on Searching for Meaning in the New Millennium will be held at the Executive Airport Plaza & Resort Centre in Richmond, BC, July 13-16, 2000.

Hosted by the School of Graduate Studies of Trinity Western University, this will be the first major, multi-disciplinary, international conference focusing on the positive psychology of meaning and spirituality in a digital world. “Paradoxically, many people are unhappy with their lives, in spite of unprecedented prosperity. They are seeking deeper meaning and looking for spiritual answers,” says Paul Wong, PhD, conference chair and director of TWU’s graduate program in Counselling Psychology. “The Meaning Conference offers an opportunity for individuals to discover the purpose and passion for work and living.”

There will be more than 130 presenters. More than 300 attendees are expected from all over the world, including Korea, Taiwan, Africa, Latin America, Eastern Europe and Australia.

Keynote speakers will include: Dr. Irvin Yalom, the foremost authority on existential psychotherapy, Joe Batten, author of the best selling Tough-minded Management for the new economy, Dr. David Myers, internationally known authority on happiness and spirituality, and Dr. Salvator Maddi,, a leader in positive psychology and authority on hardiness personality.
