Trinity Western University to launch new School of Business in a public event

“We are inviting business people from the community to take advantage of this great resource and to come to us with internship and cooperative education ideas. This opening event is a great way for us to meet each other and for the business community to meet some of our students--students that might be working for them in the near future.”
Kevin Sawatsky, School of Business Dean, Trinity Western University

Langley, British Columbia--On October 26, the public is invited to join with Trinity Western University to launch its new School of Business. The ceremony will begin at 4:00 p.m. on TWU’s Glover Road campus at the Northwest Building, the new home to the School of Business. The opening event will include a procession with TWU President R. Neil Snider, Business Dean Kevin Sawatsky, Board of Governor Chairman Alan Hedberg, Mayor Kurt Alberts, Mayor Marlene Grinnell and other honoured guests, as well as a reception, live choir music, and tours of the newly renovated home of the School of Business.

Sawatsky, who began as dean in June of this year, envisions Trinity Western taking a lead role in the Lower Mainland and Canada in providing experiential, faith-based corporate education with a focus on ethical practices, preparing graduates to be leaders in their field. According to Sawatsky, one of the key strategies for preparing these new leaders to make a positive contribution to our local and global economy is the School of Business’s deliberate focus on interacting with successful business leaders who are committed to considering the ethical implications of their business activities.

“Students will have opportunities for co-ops and real-time industry projects, and throughout their degree they will interface directly with senior business leaders who will serve as resources and mentors,” says Sawatsky. “Over the past years our students have been building a solid reputation in the business community for making excellent contributions during co-ops. We are inviting business people from the community to take advantage of our students and faculty as a resource and to come to us with student consulting projects and cooperative education ideas. This opening event is a great way for us to meet each other and for the business community to meet some of our students--students that might be working for them in the near future.”
