Renowned theologian J.I. Packer teams with TWU choirs and leading Baritone for concert

Trinity Western University’s 160 voice choir invites the public to enjoy the singing of Metropolitan Opera Baritone, Mark Oswald, accompanied by a full orchestra and a narrative delivered by J.I. Packer. On Sunday, November 24th, at 7:00pm in the Chandos Pattison Auditorium, performers will explore themes of faith, holiness and marriage, through powerful choral music.

Oswald, one of the featured performers, created a sensation when as a third year undergraduate, he won the national Metropolitan Opera auditions. Since then, he has made over 200 appearances at the Met, has been televised with the Boston Pops, and has sung with the Chicago Symphony, Montreal Symphony, Vienna Opera, Hamburg Opera and Frankfurt Opera. Oswald has been featured in BBC Music Magazine as someone whose star will continue to rise in the opera world.

Joining him will be writer J.I. Packer, one of the most influential theologians of the twentieth century, second only to C.S. Lewis, according to a recent poll in Christianity Today. Packer, known for classic, Knowing God, will deliver an original narrative text, prepared specifically for this concert. Supporting Dr. Packer and Mark Oswald will be Charlene Pauls, soprano, Akira Nagai, Vancouver Symphony concertmaster, Wes Janzen, Director of Choral Activities, a full orchestra and our very own TWU Choirs.
