SCOTT ALLEN SIGNS WITH TRINITY WESTERN UNIVERSITY SPARTANS

Scott Allen stands on his new court after signing on to be Head Coach of Trinity Western University’s Men’s Basketball Team.

Trinity Western University's Office of the Provost is pleased to announce that Scott Allen has signed on to become the Head Coach of the Spartans Men's Basketball Program.

"In our search for the proper candidate to lead the Spartans, the selection committee has looked at a number of quality individuals throughout the last two months and I am pleased to announce Scott Allen as the new head coach of our men's basketball team. Scott has successfully come through a rigorous and thorough hiring process, and we are looking forward to his tenure with the Spartans," commented Dennis Jameson, Ph.D., Provost Trinity Western University

Allen comes to TWU after a stellar career at South Surrey's White Rock Christian Academy. During his 15 years as head coach of the Warriors, Allen has earned numerous team and individual awards, most notably three BC Boys (BCHSSBBA) "AAA" Provincial Championships in 2005, 2003 and 1999. Says Allen, "I feel very privileged to begin working here at TWU with its rich tradition in sport, and to carry on what TWU has been doing but take it to the highest level possible. The Complete Champion Approach is something I believe in very strongly."

2006 & 2007 NCAA Div. I Champion University of Florida Gators men's basketball coach Billy Donovan commented on what Allen will bring to Trinity Western University and the men's basketball program. "The excellence that Scott has shown at WRCA will no doubt transfer to TWU. The men's basketball program will be well represented by Scott as his care for the young men in their development will be well modeled. I have the utmost confidence that Scott can take the TWU Spartans to new aspiring levels and that he will represent your university in an excellent fashion."

During his 15 years leading the WRCA Warriors, Allen has established an impressive 503-117 record. In addition to his head coaching duties at WRCA Allen has coached Basketball BC's U17, U16 and U15 Provincial Teams. He has also been a head coach, an assistant coach or a guest coach at the Adidas All Canada All-Star game, Basketball Canada Regional Training Centre, the Super Pages Canada All-Star Game and the University of Florida Basketball Camp.

Off the court Allen has been involved in a number of community ventures. He has been the Volunteer Coordinator for Peace Arch Hospital's Vintage Affair, the Youth Volunteer Coordinator for the Christmas Food Drive, the Chair of Building A Tradition Gala Committee, which raised in excess of $200,000 and he is co-owner of One Pass Ahead Basketball Club, which nurtures athletes and trains new coaches.

Allen also sits on the Executive Committee for Vancouver's expansion team in the IBL Basketball League and has been the Director of Camp Operations and head coach of Warrior Basketball Camp since 1992.

Effective immediately Allen will begin his coaching duties with the Spartans.

Trinity Western University, in Langley, B.C. is an independent Christian liberal arts and sciences university enrolling approximately 4000 students.
