Canada Research Chairs

In 2000, the Government of Canada created a permanent program to establish 2000 research professorships—Canada Research Chairs—in eligible degree-granting institutions across the country. The goal of the program was to attract and retain some of the world's most accomplished and promising minds.

TWU was awarded its first Canada Research Chair (CRC) in 2004.

    Peter Flint

    The On Nov 12, 2004, the CRC program appointed TWU Professor Peter Flint a Research Chair in Dead Sea Scrolls Studies. Three Chairs were awarded across Canada in the area of religious studies, but Flint’s was the only Tier One Chair – reserved for researchers recognized as international leaders in their field.
