If a course is a required component of a student’s program and the student has valid reasons for not being able to take it when offered, students may take the course by directed study but only during a semester when the course is not offered on campus. Students must apply during the first week of the semester to allow sufficient time for the instructor and the Vice Provost to process the application prior to the Add/Drop deadline. (Application forms are available from the Office of the Registrar.) Directed study courses are normally available to third and fourth year students only. Students are allowed a maximum of 12 sem. hrs. of directed study in their degree program and may not normally take more than one directed study course per semester.back to top
