Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences

Computing Science

Department of Mathematical Sciences

Dr. Arnold E. Sikkema, Chair
Dr. Herbert H. Tsang, Coordinator

The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers:

  1. A concentration;
  2. A minor.

Facilities

TWU’s Department of Mathematical Sciences operates a computing lab with computers that run MacOS, Windows, and Linux operating systems. Our computing facilities are designed to deliver a high-tech, hands-on learning environment for students. For research projects that require a significant amount of computing power, our students will also have access to the large scale high performance computing (HPC) resources of WestGrid (Western Canada Research Grid). The Department’s goal is to graduate students who are able to apply knowledge in and principles of computing, mathematics, science, and/or engineering to the solution of real-world problems. They will use current techniques, skills, and tools necessary for the practice of the discipline.
