A Christian-humanist theatre scholar, Dr. Arnett teaches theatre history and literature, playwriting, performance, and courses in the integration of faith-and-theatre. A prolific director, his recent productions have included Scotland Road, The Glass Menagerie, Cotton Patch Gospel, and his own work, Angels. As a scholar he has placed documents with Filmarchiv-Austria, Vienna; worked on a recent television documentary in Israel; and served on the editorial committees of the journals Christian Drama and The Baylor Journal of Theatre and Performance. His articles and reviews have appeared in these and such other journals as Modern Drama, Integrité, and Theatre Studies. He has just completed editing the anthology, Angels and Other Plays for the Church. His doctoral dissertation was the first-ever survey of American playwriting manuals, from 1890 to the first one on the internet in 1995. In 2008-2009, Dr. Arnett is slated to direct Molière’s Tartuffe and David Auburn’s Proof and to teach acting, theatre history, and Modern Drama.
