Julie Moran completed her B.A. (Honours) at the University of British Columbia and her M.A. at Simon Fraser University , specializing in English Literature and Language. She has taught at UBC, SFU, and Vancouver Community College , and has served as an instructor at TWU since 1988. She now teaches first-year English courses and co-directs the Writing Centre. She has a strong background in linguistics, being especially interested in its use for illuminating the study of literary styles and developing students’ ability to write effectively. She has also studied and worked in the field of ESL teaching. She has written on style as used by Gerard Manley Hopkins, the Gawain poet, and King Lear. She enjoys teaching literature because it can help deepen our understanding of the human spirit, and can help equip us to minister to fellow human beings. | ![]() |
