Graduation Requirements

Major in Geography

Trinity Western is one of the few Christian universities in North America offering a Major in Geography.

Students are encouraged to reinforce their Geography major with study in related social and natural sciences such as Anthropology, Biology, Economics, Geology, History, Political and International Studies, and Sociology. A secondary specialization in a related field is uesful for geographers in business, government, or education.  See Requirements (below) and Program Checklist

* Required Geography courses are:

  • At least 6 sem. hrs. of Physical Geography (GEOG 121, 131, 220, 320, 321, 322).
    Note: GEOG 121 or 131 is required.
  • At least 6 sem. hrs. of Human and Cultural Geography (GEOG 111, 212, 312, 354, 355, 356, 411, 412).
    Note: GEOG 111 or 212 is required.
  • At least 9 sem. hrs. of Regional and Applied Geography (GEOG 230, 282, 332, 341, 343, 344, 382, 383, 441, 442).
    Note: GEOG 230 or 282 is required.

Concentration and Minor in Geography

Students may obtain a concentration by completing 30 sem. hrs. of Geography courses or a minor by completing 24 sem. hrs. of Geography courses. In each case, at least 12 sem. hrs. must be at the 300 or 400 level. Both the concentration and the minor in Geography must include at least 3 sem. hrs. in each of Physical Geography, Human and Cultural Geography, and Regional and Applied Geography (see specific courses listed above).
