Abou Bai-Sheka, Ph.D.

Part-time Instructor in French

Dr. Abou Bai-Sheka has taught FREN 380 Phonétique et pronunciation for us as a summer course on occasion. He completed his doctorate in French in 1979 and his doctorate in Linguistics in 1981, both at the Université Stendhal de Grenoble-3, Grenoble, France. Before this, he was a lecturer in French and also in linguistics from 1981-1995 at the University of Sierra Leone, Fourah Bay College, Freetown. He has more recently been a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages at Western Washington University, and has taught numerous language and linguistics courses there since 2001. He has also taught courses at the Canada Institute of Linguistics, in Langley, B.C.. Two books which he has published, A New Approach to French Grammar, and a Creole/Krio – English Dictionary, are being used at the Western Washington University.
