Na Wu, Ph.D.

Part-Time Instructor in Chinese

Born and educated in China, Na Wu became a Christian through the influence of a Christian friend on her university campus in 2002. She began attending an underground church, and then immigrated to Canada in 2004, where she has found fellowship and freedom for her faith. She completed a B.A. and M.A. in English Literature and a Ph.D. in Linguistics with a major in Comparative Cultural Studies at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Guangzhou, China. In 2002, she was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Gloucestershire, Cheltenham, UK. She has over 10 years of lecturing and research experience at the University level in the areas of Sino-Western literary and cultural studies, and has presented at major conferences. She has published numerous articles related to the Chinese and English languages and cultures, as well as a book in English and Mandarin which explores how English speakers learn Chinese. In 1999, she won the Chinese National Education Award for Best Teacher, and in 2003 she was included in the Top Ten Youth Professionals in Guangdong Province. She will be developing courses in Chinese at TWU, beginning with Introductory Chinese in 2006/2007.
