The unexamined life is not worth living.
Philosophy, which means literally "the love of wisdom," investigates and systematizes various views about the principles that underlie thought, conduct, and the nature of reality. In its search for meaning and truth, philosophy explores the foundations upon which belief and behaviour are built. Because philosophy is concerned both with what humans have thought and with how humans think, the student of philosophy attempts to gain some perspective of the history of ideas, as well as being concerned about the need to think consistently and clearly.
