Dr. Peters at ROM Conference

In conjunction with the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit at the Royal Ontario Museum Unite productions is staging Unite in Worship Conference, which will take place in Toronto on Saturday, October 31st and Sunday, November 1st, 2009.

Unite in Worship 2009 will include admission to the scrolls exhibit, with a guided tour organized by the ROM, custom-tailored to the conference delegates.  There will be a pre-conference lecture/discussion on the relevance of the scrolls and their importance for 21st century believers. Keynote speakers include Dr. Craig Evans, Dr. Todd Johnson from Fuller, Tom Davis, author and Founder of Hope Chest Ministries, Glenn Packiam, Director of Worship Development at New Life Church in Colorado Springs, and Dr. Dorothy M. Peters, the author of Noah Traditions in the Dead Sea Scrolls: Conversations and Controversies of Antiquity. Dr. Peters is on faculty in the Religious Studies department and the Dead Sea Scrolls Institute at Trinity Western University in British Columbia. Each keynote speaker will also present 2 workshops and there will be 15-20 other workshop presenters during the 2-day event.

Dr. Peters keynote address is titled, "'Children Come Into Life Through the Breaking Waves of Death': Pictures of Suffering and Hope in the Dead Sea Scrolls" and and her two workshops will be, "Songwriting in Antiquity: The Songs and Psalms of the Dead Sea Scrolls," and "Genesis as Retold by the Storytellers of the Dead Sea Scrolls".

The Dead Sea Scrolls will be on exhibit at the Royal Ontario Museum until January 3, 2010.
