Trinity Western University was pleased to welcome Dr. N. T. Wright, Professor of New Testament and Early Christianity at St. Andrews University, Scotland, and Bishop in the Church of England, in November of 2010, for the Distinguished Lecturer Series. Professor Wright has authored over 60 books for both scholarly and popular audiences. His particular interest is Jesus and Christian origins.
In addition to speaking to TWU students at two Chapels, Bishop Wright also gave a Public Lecture and participated in a special, three-hour Symposium with the Faculty of Religious Studies and invited guest scholars on the subject of Exile.
The University Distinguished Lecturer Series is designed to introduce students and the general public to some of the most profound Christian thinkers of our time.
In the Symposium on Exile, more opportunity was given for engagement, dialogue, and investigation of ideas presented by Professor Wright, as members of the Department of Religious Studies and invited scholars responded to Professor Wright’s work. Plans are under way to collect the presentations from the Symposium into a published volume.
Previously Professor Wright was Canon Theologian at Westminster Abbey and Dean of Lichfield Cathedral. He also taught New Testament studies for twenty years at Cambridge, McGill and Oxford Universities.
His many books include Simply Christian, What Saint Paul Really Said, The Challenge of Jesus, and Jesus and the Victory of God.
