MAL Alums:
Are you interested in taking further MAL courses? Now you can take any online program course* you have not already taken at half the regular tuition cost. The MAL leadership team has made this offer available for two reasons:  First, we want to provide our alums with life-long learning.  Second, we would like to enable our alums to interact with those interested in learning about transformational servant leadership.  Current students would welcome taking courses with experienced alum leaders!
* Non-education stream alums will not be able to take education stream courses for reasons related to Ministry accreditation requirements and productive learning requirements.  Also, ability to take courses is subject to available class space.

CongratulationsJennifer Ingraham for her new position at Kwantlen Polytechnic University overseeing Student Judicial Affairs!

Congratulations to Major Judy Folkins on her new position as pastor of the Salvation Army Sussex Community Church!

Karen Joy Hall
Risk Management Strategies for an Aging Workforce: Why the aging workforce poses serious financial and operational risks to your organization, and what you can do about it

Karen Hall, Vice President, Aon Consulting Canada, recently released a book that offers guidance for organizations on how to prepare for and manage talent succession planning. Risk Management Strategies for an Aging Workforce, examines why the aging workforce poses serious financial and operational risks to organizations and what can be done to address impending challenges.  The book depicts the shape of a Canadian workforce no longer able to meet or match the requirements of today’s organizational hierarchies. And as the Baby Boom generation moves into the retirement years, organizations will find it harder to recruit and retain the talent they need.

Widely received with positive reviews, the book secured top spot on the list of best-selling Labour and Employment books at Amazon.ca during its first few weeks of issue in September.

Ryan Walter
Off the Bench and Into the Game: Eight Success Strategies from Professional Sport

"Our lives are in a constant state of change. We move from times of extreme confidence and accelerated performance to times of disappointment and discouragement. As the speed of life increases, we sometimes feel like we are wasting our potential on the bench rather than achieving success by flying down the ice.

In this revised, updated and expanded edition of his inspirational book, Ryan Walter explores performance and success, using techniques he learned during 15 years in the NHL. His subjects range from mental toughness and successful habits of thought to leadership and the differences between being a player, a team player and a leader." - www.ryanwalter.com

Ryan has also authored Simply the Best Coaches and Simply the Best Players.
