MA in Leadership (Business Stream) in Mandarin

Program Overview

The MA in Leadership program is fully accredited in Canada, by the British Columbia Ministry of Education. Soon after it was launched in 1999, it was recognized by leadership development market experts as a leading graduate level leadership development program in Canada. Since its inception, more than 300 students have graduated from this program. It has been highly valued by emerging and senior level organizational leaders, with students coming from all parts of the world, including China. Every year more than 60% of the new students come through student and graduate recommendations. TWU has received invitations from a number of jurisdictions to offer the program in their countries. Testimonials from students and graduates indicate that the program meets individual student learning expectations. It is committed to continuing to provide that high level of quality by constantly striving for excellence.

The development of the MA in Leadership (Business Stream) in Mandarin program represents a culminating point in the history of the MA in Leadership program to meet the needs of a specialty market.  With special approval by the BC Ministry of Advanced Education and Labor Development, the China program specifically serves the business sector within the Chinese cultural context. It is committed to meeting the special learning needs of Chinese business leaders, such as leadership ethics and leading change for the best business performance in a more competitive global business environment. Since the launch of its first English cohort in April 2011, the China program has four cohorts currently in progress.

The MA in Leadership (Business Stream) in Mandarin program for business leaders is a 36-credit hour program that can be completed in 24 months while students continue to work. The program is a partially blended online and face-to-face relational learning experience for adult Chinese learners. The program will make extensive use of online learning venues, with relational, experiential and interactive learning being an important program component. The program emphasizes the application of concepts to organizational leadership practice, and includes assignments geared to practical applications to the student’s work circumstances. Emphasis will also be placed on experiential learning in China and strategic visits to business organization sites in Mainland China, HongKong SAR, and Canada.
