LDRS 654 - Social Enterprise (3 S. Hrs)

This course addresses practical issues and opportunities presented to the servant-centered leader that wishes to develop as a social entrepreneur.   The concept carries with it elements of the traditional business, non-governmental and political arenas we are so accustomed to working and living with.  This course provides practical, entrepreneurially focused leadership knowledge and skills needed to have an impact in this arena. This course focuses on student development as servant-centered leaders of social enterprise.

Course Objectives:

  • Critically evaluate the fundamental concepts of social economy and social enterprise.
  • Articulate a personal vision of social enterprise by engaging in dialogue and joint learning about contemporary issues facing business in the social economy.
  • Evaluate your own social/cultural/political/economic environment in terms of social enterprise: opportunities for social enterprise development.
  • Create a business plan for a social enterprise.
