A New Face in the MA Leadership Program Office

If you come into the MA Leadership Office at TWU these days, a new smile will greet you. Or, if you call in, a new voice will greet you -- in either English or Mandarin!  Lydia Liu, the brand new Operations Coordinator has taken up the job of keeping the MA Leadership department running smoothly and effectively.

Previous Operations Coordinator Chelica Hiltunen completed her full-time position in the office at the end of February. She moved with her husband, Eric, to Toronto for his new job.  “I am very excited about the opportunity in Toronto.  Still, it is very difficulty for me to leave behind so many wonderful people and a job I have truly enjoyed,” says Chelica.

MA Leadership director Stan Remple was sad to see her go. “Chelica is missed for the commitment, energy, competence, and inspiration she brought to the MA Leadership office. Chelica was highly intuitive and knew how to resolve issues before they even came to the attention of other team members. But we continue experiencing some of this, as Chelica is continuing with internet-based help until this coming August. This is of great help to the program and to Lydia Liu, who has just replaced Chelica and is doing a great job, too.”

Lydia brings to her new position a wealth of expertise.  Her qualifications include an MA in Education, a BA in English of Science and Technology, and experience teaching both Mandarin and English, winning numerous work and academic awards in China, the U.S. and Canada.  Lydia has been part of the larger TWU family for the last several years working in conference services, where she and Chelica first met.  “While organizing a conference in 2006, I met a wonderful woman with a heart to serve.  Lydia proved to be detail oriented while not forgetting the big picture,” says Chelica

Lydia’s heart to serve is evident in all she does, and she has already demonstrated her ability and competence during her first weeks in the office.    Lydia, Welcome to the MA Leadership family!
