Optional thesis: After completing all other program requirements, a student may apply to do a thesis. The thesis proposal must be submitted by the middle of the last semester of the student's regular program. If the proposal is accepted, the student will typically spend the next two years completing the thesis research and thesis. Except in unusual circumstances, the thesis research must be completed in residence, not at a distance.
