Cinergy
Every April our film students display their creativity and receive accolades and feedback from Vancouver area film critics at our own film night. Cinergy features film shorts in dramatic, experimental, comedy, and horror genres, entirely written, shot, directed, and edited by students.
Vignettes: an evening of new student literature
The nonfiction our students read and write falls into the category of personal narrative: memoir, travel writing, personal essays on topics in which we’re passionately interested. We play with form in creative ways: vignette, mosaic, collage, montage — all terms stolen from photography. We play with style in creative ways. As photography does, we look at the art in truth. We shape our vision with words, using various lenses and focal lengths: close ups, long shots, portraits, landscapes. Whatever we call it — creative nonfiction, literary journalism, personal narrative — it’s an adventure.
