Calling and Career: A Journey of Music and Faith
SAMC Music hosts a discussion of calling and career from the perspective of a classical musician, with special guest Dr. Aaron Au, viola, and Suzanne Klukas, piano. The session also includes a performance of works by Schubert and Hummel.
Aaron Au is a native of Lethbridge, Alberta and was a first violinist with the Edmonton Symphony and is currently a Sessional Lecturer of Viola at the University of Alberta. A frequent guest of CBC Radio, Aaron has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician on both violin and viola in concerts across Canada and the U.S., Cuba and Europe. He holds a DMA from U of A, where he was a Killam Scholar. He studied for a year at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, supported by the Johann Strauss Foundation. Aaron is currently pursuing another passion, with studies at Taylor Seminary where he is enrolled in the Master of Divinity degree.
Pianist Suzanne Klukas teaches in the SAMC Music Department at TWU. She holds degrees from the Hochschule fuer Musik und darstellende Kunst in Graz, Austria (sponsored by the Johann Strauss Foundation and the state of Styria) and UBC. Suzanne has been a Canada Council for the Arts grant recipient for professional musicians for her specialization in art song interpretation with Charles Spencer in Vienna.
