New Degrees for SAMC Faculty

Congratulations go out to three of our faculty for the completion of new degrees:

Loranne Brown (Communications) successfully defended her MFA in Creative Writing (Fiction) at Pacific University.  Loranne's creative thesis is a novel entitled After the Fact of Fire, inspired by the 1989 crash of Air Ontario Flight 1363 at Dryden, Ontario.  Loranne teaches creative, technical and professional writing.

Edith Krause (Art + Design) has been in residence at U of A in Edmonton, doing her MFA in Printmaking. The installation for her final graduating show in Edmonton was titled:  [a]drift, a journey of her process of observation through to interpretation of monthly plankton samples she collected from Whaler Bay, British Columbia, for a year. Read more about Edith’s exhibit here.  Edith teaches printmaking and fundamentals of design.

Jeff R. Warren (Music and AMC) completed his Ph.D in Music and Philosophy at Royal Holloway, University of London.  His dissertation, titled “Musical Experience and Human Relationships: Meaning, Improvisation, and Ethics in Music,” explores the complex ways that musical experience changes the way people relate. Jeff teaches jazz, contemporary music theory, and interdisciplinary arts.
