Interim Director of Choral Activities

SAMC music is proud to welcome Caron Daley, Interim Director of Choral Activities.

SAMC Music is proud to welcome Caron Daley as Interim Director of Choral Activities for the 2012-2013 season.  Caron brings a breadth of experience in a variety of choral settings, from solo and oratorio performances with acclaimed orchestras in Canada and the US to conducting opera and musical theatre.

“Our 50th anniversary year is a time of celebration,” says David Squires, Dean of the School of the Arts, Media and Culture.  “Caron is the ideal leader to step in while our Director of Choral Activities, Wes Janzen, is finishing his leave in Kiev.”

Caron comes to TWU from Dalhousie University where she conducted the Dalhousie Chamber Choir and 100-voice ensemble.  Caron is finishing a DMA in Choral Conducting from the University of Toronto and holds a MMus in Choral Conducting and MA in Vocal Pedagogy from Ohio State University, with an Artist Diploma in Vocal Performance and BMus Honours in Music Education from the University of Western Ontario.

Choral students have already had a chance to work with Caron in rehearsal at the end of their spring semester.  “They are very excited about the coming year,” Squires adds.  “We are especially pleased to have Caron at the helm of our annual Christmas at the Chan concert in early December, which is always a highlight for our audiences.”

Students and faculty are anticipating an exciting year with Caron’s vision and expertise seeing Trinity Western University’s choral program through the final year of Wes Janzen’s leave.  Wes is currently Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of the Kiev Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, an organization he has served with for many years while at TWU, and will continue through the coming year assisting them with a leadership transition.  We look forward to Wes’ return in the summer of 2013, and to Caron’s leadership in the coming year.
