Frequently Asked Questions

When you start the financial aid process, you'll undoubtedly have questions. We have compiled a list of answers to the most frequently asked questions. If your question doesn't appear on this list, send us an email or call us to find out what you need to know.

  1. How much money am I able to receive from TWU if I apply?

    We offer various awards based on academic acheivement, financial need, and participation in various programs. The average TWU award package is $3200. Additional funding may be available through your province or state.
  2. How do I apply for TWU Financial Aid?

    Online! Applications for the 2009/2010 school year will be available for new and returning students on December 1, 2008. In order to ensure priority assessment for awards, please apply before February 28th.
  3. How much does it cost to attend TWU?

  4. Can I work on campus?

    There are a variety of jobs available on campus. When you complete your Financial Aid application, indicate that you are interested in working on campus. Qualifying students will be notified about their eligibility for on campus employment in their TWU awards package letter.
  5. What is the difference between a scholarship and a grant?

    Good question! A scholarship is based on your academic acheivement and a grant is based on your financial need. Financial need will be determined when you complete the Financial Aid application. Click here to view available funding.
  6. Is TWU eligible to receive funds from my parents' RESP?

    Yes, TWU is an approved university for receiving RESP funds.  Your parents will need to provide their bank with our code, which is APAK. For more information on using RESP funds to make payments on your student account, please contact the Office of the Registrar.
  7. Am I eligible for student loans?

    TWU students are recognized as being eligible for Canadian and US government loans. Your actual eligibility will be determined by your province/state (FAFSA for US students).
  8. How do I apply for student loans?
  • Canadian students apply through their home province. Each province has a different application process, so visit our Canadian Loan section to get instructions for your province.
  • Torch Students (Canadian): as a safeguard against a potential audit, please ensure you report your Torch Award (yearly tuition amount; do not report reduced percentage amount) under the Scholarship section of the Loan application (line 61).
