Tips for online application:

This application is for both federal and provincial loans.

Select the correct year of study.

Torch Students: Please ensure you report your Torch Award (yearly tuition amount; do not report reduced percentage amount) under the Scholarship section of the Loan application (line 61).

You do NOT need an Appendix 3. Entering your program of study satisfies this requirement.

Ensure you mail in the declaration page (printed from last section of application).

What happens after I apply?

StudentAid BC will assess your application. You can check on your application status at www.studentaidbc.ca.

If approved, you will get the following in the mail:

  1. Notice of Assessment: This will tell you how much you are getting and when the loan funds will be sent. You will be getting a portion of your loan from the Canada Student Loans, and a portion from BC Student Loans.
  2. Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement (completed by first time borrowers only*): This documents outlines the terms of your BC/Canada integrated loan. You need to take this document to a designated Canada Post Outlet (Canada Post acts a processing agent for Canada and BC Student Loans). Once the post office forwards your MSFAA form to the National Student Loan Service Center and your enrollment has been confirmed with TWU, they will send your loan funds as per the dates indicated on your Notice of Assessment. All loan funds are sent directly to your student account at TWU.

*Please note that you will only need to complete one MSFAA form for the lifetime of your BC/Canada integrated loan.  For semesters following the one in which you received and returned your MSFAA form, TWU will simply confirm your enrollment at the appropriate time and your funding will be transferred directly to your TWU student account.

How do I use my student loan for my first TWU payment?

Fax a copy of your Notice of Assessment (please include your TWU ID#) to the Registrar's Office at 604.513.2096.  Even though the actual loan will not arrive until the beginning of the semester, you can use your Notice of Assessment toward your first payment. For more details on how to make payment, contact registrar@twu.ca.

If you have a credit balance in your student account once your fees are paid for the semester, you may request a refund cheque from the Registrar's Office.

For questions regarding loans, contact the Financial Aid Office.

For questions regarding payment, contact the Registrar's Office at 604.513.2070 or at registrar@twu.ca.
