JACKSON FINISHES SECOND AT VANCOUVER TRIATHLON

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Trinity Western University’s Alison Jackson (formerly Farkash; Vermilion, Alta.), who competes for the Spartans track and field, cross country and swimming teams, finished second at the Vancovuer Triathlon at Stanley Park Monday.

Jackson, who finished the Olympic distance race in 2:16:17, was first in her age group (20-24) and finished only 16 seconds behind the top woman after winner Alee Sharpe was assessed a 2:00 penalty.

The Spartans lone multi-sport athlete finished the 1500m swim in 29:07, the 37.6km bike in 1:07:59 and the 10km run in 39:12.

Her sub-40-minute run was the ninth fastest amongst all competitors (both men and women).

Earlier this summer, Jackson won the Alberta Olympic Distance Provincial Championship in Canmore, which earned her a spot in the 2012 ITU Triathlon Age Group World Championship in Auckland, New Zealand, and also finished second at the Edmonton ITU Age Group Olympic Distance Triathlon.
