TRIATHLETE JACKSON FINISHES 11TH AT AGE-GROUP WORLDS

AUCKLAND, New Zealand – Trinity Western cross country, track and field and swim team member Alison Jackson (Farkash) (Vermilion, Alta.) finished 11th in the 20 to 24 age-group and 22nd overall at the 2012 Auckland ITU Age-Group World Championships at Queens Wharf Monday.

Finishing the Olympic distance race – comprised of a 1500m swim, a 40 kilometre bike and a 10 kilometre swim) – in 2:21:42, Jackson was fastest Canadian in her age-group and second fastest Canadian overall.

Jackson finished the swim portion in 24:52, the bike portion in 1:10:39 and the run portion in 39:52. Her bike and run portions were both fifth fastest in her age-group.

She finished 6:14 behind the overall and 20 to 24 age-group winner on the female side, Reubyn Bisschops of New Zealand.

Jackson will return to Canada this week and will immediately begin final preparations for the CIS cross country championships, which are set for Nov. 10 in London, Ont. where they will be hosted by Western University.

In her only cross country race this season, Jackson finished second at the Western Washington Invitational Classic at East Lake Padden Park in Bellingham, Wash. She completed the six kilometre course in 21:42.
