CROSS COUNTRY TEAM SUCCESSFUL AT WHISTLER SPIRIT RUN

LANGLEY, British Columbia –
The Trinity Western cross country team was in Whistler Saturday for the Spirit Run and saw Marissa Ratzlaff finish as the top university runner on the women’s side and Jason Carwile finish third amongst university athletes on the men’s side.

Ratzlaff finished the 5km route run around Whistler Olympic Park in a time of 20:48.54, completing the race third overall and just over a minute and a half behind the leader.

As for Carwile, the Spartans lead male runner completed the 8k event in a time of 27:06.58. He finished sixth overall and just 51 seconds behind the top university runner in UBC’s David Slade.

With 16 athletes in the race, Trinity Western was awarded the Team Challenge trophy by having the most runners competing in Whistler.

The race was expected to give coach Susan Northey her final evaluation in forming the Spartans cross country team.
