BC ATHLETICS PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

SPARTANS RUN FINAL TUNE-UP BEFORE NATIONALS
ALDERGROVE, British Columbia – The Trinity Western cross country team raced in the BC Athletics Provincial Championships Saturday in its final tune-up before the national championships in Sherbrooke, Que Nov. 13.
In the men’s 10km race, Mihai Prajea once again led Trinity Western as he was the first Spartan to cross the finish line in a time of 37:50.28, which was good for 12th place overall.
As for the women, Marissa Ratzlaff led the way for TWU in the 6km race as she finished 11th overall with a time of 25:47.01.
Ratzlaff and her teammates raced against a tough field that included former Canadian Olympian middle distance runner Malindi Elmore.
“The girls felt honoured to be in the same race as Elmore and worked hard to show they belonged,” said TWU coach Susan Northey. “Marissa is coming into her own and hopes to be ready to compete against the best in the Canadian university system. Her race today shows that she indeed will be ready.”
The course was a challenging 2km loop which included three sizable hills.
