Marchant bettered her own personal best of 4.00m and the school record mark of 3.93m, which she herself set earlier this year at the University of Washington Invitational Jan. 25.

Also putting together solid efforts in the pole vault pit were Ivonne Zuniga (Mexicali, Mexico), who cleared a season’s best 3.50m, and Jamie Sinclair (Glasgow, Scotland), who posed a season’s best clearance of 4.41m.

“This meet give our vaulters great confidence as we go into the Canada West championships next weekend,” said Spartans coach Laurier Primeau. “Our performances demonstrate that our vaulters are peaking at the right time.”

On the track, the Spartans women’s 4x200m team clocked a time of 1:43.05.

In the women’s 300m, Anastasia Pearse (Victoria) finished in 42.27, Maya Daly (Ajax, Ont.) finished in 43.62 and Liza Whitehead (Surrey, B.C.) stopped the clock at 44.54.

In the men’s 300m, Nathan George (Coquitlam, B.C.) ran a 36.89, Calum Innes (Bearsden, Scotland) ran a 37.33, James Linde (Coquitlam, B.C.) ran a 37.83 and Stephen Humphrey (Abbotsford, B.C.) ran a 38.36.

The Spartans are next in action Feb. 22-23 when they compete at the Canada West Championships in Regina.
