BENJAMINSEN NAMED BCIHL ROOKIE OF THE MONTH

LANGLEY, British Columbia –
Trinity Western men’s hockey forward Kye Benjaminsen (Delta, B.C.) was named the BCIHL Rookie of the Month for November after putting up six goals and three assists in five games.

The former Delta Ice Hawks sniper had a point in all five games and enters the Christmas break second on the Spartans in scoring with seven goals and seven assists in 14 games. Benjaminsen had three multi-point games, though none were more impressive than his three-point effort on Nov. 25 when he led the Spartans to a 3-3 tie after trailing Eastern Washington 3-0 going into the third period.

Benjaminsen has now registered a point in all but three of the Spartans games.

Okanagan College’s Aaron Buat was named the BCIHL Player of the Month after he had four goals and 11 points in five games while Thompson Rivers Shane Oatway was the Defenceman of the Month and Simon Fraser’s Evan Kurylo was the Goaltender of the Month.

The Spartans are 3-8-2 on the season and are currently fifth in the BCIHL. They return to the ice Jan. 20 when they host Eastern Washington at 7:00 p.m.
