FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MEN’S HOCKEY OPENS REGULAR SEASON WITH HEAVY HOME SLATE
LANGLEY, British Columbia – The Trinity Western men’s hockey team will have plenty of home-cooking to start the 2013-14 campaign as eight of the Spartans first 11 games are set to be played at the Langley Events Centre.

Following their favourable first semester schedule – one that ultimately sees the Spartans play eight home games and just four road games – TWU will see the opposite slate in the second half, with eight road games and just four home games. The season-ending road-heavy docket sees them play four of their final five regular season contests on the road.
This year, TWU, who will be playing its fourth season as Spartans, will play three Thursday night games at the LEC – Jan. 16 and Feb. 6 against Simon Fraser and Feb. 20 against Thompson Rivers – and four Saturday afternoon contests – Oct. 19 and Nov. 16 against Eastern Washington, Oct. 26 against Victoria and Nov. 9 against Selkirk.
The Spartans weeknight home games begin at 7 p.m. while the Saturday afternoon games start at 2 p.m.
Trinity Western’s road schedule sees the Spartans take three swing trip weekend trips to Selkirk and EWU, two different single-game trips to TRU, one weekend double-header road trip to Victoria and two one-game jaunts to SFU.
The heavy home schedule early on and the Thursday night spring semester games are largely because of the National Lacrosse League’s Vancouver Stealth moving into the LEC for the 2014 season and beyond. The NLL regular season schedule runs from January through April and most of Vancouver’s games will be played on the weekend.
