TWU SPARTANS (2) AT THE SELKIRK COLLEGE SAINTS (3)

SAINTS RALLY PAST SPARTANS
CASTLEGAR, British Columbia – The Trinity Western University Spartans dominated play, and outshot Selkirk College 40-28, but the Saints came out on top with a 4-2 victory Friday night in Castlegar, B.C.
The Spartans opened the scoring at 1:48 of the first period when TWU goalie, who was playing out, scored his first goal on a nicely set up play from Brandon Long and Samuel Gemmell. “It was a great goal. Brandon made the perfect pass for Tim to tap it in,” commented TWU head coach Dwayne Lowdermilk.
Trinity Western made it 2-0 at 12:51 on a goal by Robert Vos with the assist once again going to Brandon Long.
Twenty-five seconds later the Saints made it 2-1 on a goal by Burhan Pourmokhtari. Selkirk tied the game on a power play goal by Caleb Georgetti at 4:21. Devon Nazaroff got the game winner at 1:03 to make it 3-2 to end the second period.
The Saints got the insurance goal at 3:06 of the final period on a goal by Brendan Madlung.
TWU’s John-Paul Chapman made 24 saves in the loss, while Selkirk’s Spenser Wong made 38 saves to earn the win.
The two teams will play again tomorrow night in Selkirk. TWU’s final game of the regular season is set for 7:30 p.m.
Game Notes: The BCIHL play-offs will begin Wed. Mar. 23 at the Burnaby Winter Club in Burnaby, B.C.
