The Spartans trailed 2-1 going into the third period but SFU piled on in the final 20 minutes as it outshot TWU 23-4 and scored another three goals en route to the win.

The loss drops TWU to 0-9-0-1 while the win improves Simon Fraser to 5-1-0-0.

Trinity Western’s Josh Stephenson (Aldergrove, B.C.) had both goals for the Spartans – his first two of the season – while Jamie Russell (Surrey, B.C.) and Tyler Miller (Prince George, B.C.) each had one assist. Trinity Western goalie Tim Zwiers (Williams Lake, B.C.) made 46 saves on 51 shots in the loss.

Taylor Swaffield had two assists while Trent Murdoch, Chris Hoe, Mike Ball, Jono Ceci, Kyzen Loo and Sandor each picked up one assist. The Spartans will return to the ice for their final game of the fall semester Nov. 23 when they host Eastern Washington at 7 p.m. at the Langley Events Centre. Simon Fraser’s next game has them in Victoria Nov. 23 at 8:30 p.m.
