Louis HurdAssistant CoachEmail: louis.hurd@twu.ca Company: 1st Hurd joined the Spartans coaching staff in the fall of 2011 after being only one year removed from his playing days as a point guard at Trinity Western. LOUIS HURD HIGHLIGHTS Hurd, who has been involved with player development as a coach with Basketball BC, only played two years with the Spartans but, in his short stint at the Langley school, was certainly an impact player on the court for Trinity Western.
Following his transfer from Columbia Bible College in 2008, Hurd joined a Spartans team that had finished the 2007-08 Canada West regular season with a 4-19 record.
As the starting point guard the following year, in 2008-09, Hurd, along with star transfer Jacob Doerksen, helped Trinity Western turn that four-win season into a 17-6 regular season – one that included, at the time, a Spartans record 12-game conference winning streak – and a Canada West bronze medal.
During that season, Hurd was second in Canada West with a .445 3-point shooting percentage and third in the conference in 3-point field goals made with 65 in 23 games. Including all non-conference and playoffs games, Hurd finished the campaign with a Trinity Western record 94 3-pointers made and 60 steals, the latter of which has him tied with Doerksen for the most by a Spartan in a single season.
The highlight of Hurd’s career most Spartans fans will remember is his game-winning 3-pointer he hit with nine seconds left at home in Game 1 of the Spartans 2008-09 opening round playoff series win against Victoria. | |
