Men's Basketball (Canada West Final Four)

LANGLEY, British Columbia - On Sunday night Canada West announced the participating teams in next weekend's Final Four at the University of British Columbia. Included in the group of the University of British Columbia, the University of Calgary and Brandon University, who won their respective divisions, was the Trinity Western University Spartans.

TWU by virtue of scoring more points in the nine point selection criteria was awarded the Canada West wild card position to fill out the Canada West's Final Four draw.

By using the Canada West system for determining the ranking of the Final Four teams the following results:(The first criteria is the order of finish in league play.)

1. UBC          .913
2. Calgary     .773
3. TWU         .739
4. Brandon    .591

The Canada West championship will be held at the site of the No. 1 ranked team - UBC and the semi-final pairings and times are as follows:

Friday, February 27
5:00 pm. TWU vs Calgary
7:00 pm. Brandon vs UBC

Saturday, February 28
5:00 pm. Bronze Medal Game
7:00 pm. Gold Medal Game

The winner's of the two semi-finals will advance to the Canada West gold medal match and earn an the two Canada West berth's into this year's CIS championship, which will be held Mar. 13-15 at Carleton University in Ottawa.

This is TWU's second appearance in the Canada West Final Four since joining Canada West in 1999. TWU's last appearance was in the 2002-03 season where they earned a bronze medal. In their ten years in the CIS the Spartans men's basketball team has never made it to the CIS men's basketball championships.
