LANGLEY, British Columbia – Trinity Western men’s basketball guard Calvin Westbrook was named the Canada West nominee for the CIS Ken Shields Award for the top student-athlete Thursday, ahead of the conference Final Four this weekend.

MEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM TO BUILD HOMES IN MEXICO

LANGLEY, British Columbia – The Trinity Western men’s basketball team will take three days out of its Christmas break this season to help build houses in Mexico as part of a six-day humanitarian and basketball-playing trip, from Dec. 16-21, that will take the team through Mexico and southern California.
MBB WEEKEND PREVIEW: SPARTANS TO HOST WINNIPEG, MANITOBA

LANGLEY, British Columbia – The Trinity Western men’s basketball team will look to get in the win column for the first time this year as the Spartans host Winnipeg Friday and Manitoba Saturday following a home-opening weekend in which they lost both games to their Island rivals from Victoria.

FORMER SPARTAN DOERKSEN SIGNS WITH GERMANY'S UBC TIGERS

LANGLEY, British Columbia – After an illustrious five-year CIS basketball career, Trinity Western star power forward Jacob Doerksen, who is arguably the greatest basketball player to ever don a Trinity Western uniform, has signed his first professional basketball contract and will start the 2011-12 season with Germany’s UBC (United Basketball Club) Tigers Hannover of the Bundesliga ProB.
