Edmonton, Alberta - The Trinity Western University Men's Basketball team traveled to the University of Alberta to battle the Bears, but they failed to take it to them. The game ended with a final score of 65 to 92. "We didn't show up in the first half of tonight," commented Peters, "We didn't execute our system in the first half, both offensively and defensively."
The Bears came out really tough and controlled the boards in the first half, out rebounding the Spartans 24-12. Nick Magisceau (5th, Post,Edmonton, AB) of the Bears dominated the Spartans with 19 points in the first half. The inside game of the Bears forced Malcolm Campbell ( 5th, Center, Abbotsford, BC) and Ben Bauman (3rd, Forward, Chilliwack, BC) into early foul trouble.
The game was not all bad. "Ben played one of his best games all season and Brian Redekop (1st, Forward, Abbotsford, BC) attacked hard and did a good job shooting," said Peters. The Spartans came out and played better in the second half. They scored ended up scoring 47 points to the Bears 49 in the second half. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to win.
"Our goal was to come in here and split, which we can still do with a solid performance tomorrow night. We are on a journey and we are going to try to enjoy it."
Next up for the Spartans is Saturday, November 11 at the University of Alberta Bears.
