Spartans Shut-out Pronghorns
Seventh Ranked TWU still undefeated

LETHBRIDGE, Alberta - The Trinity Western University men’s soccer team remained undefeated in Canada West with Saturday’s 2-0 win over the University of Lethbridge Saturday afternoon in Lethbridge, Alberta.

The 2-0-3 Spartans jumped out to the early lead over the Pronghorns and never looked back. TWU forward Todd Anderson (1st yr, Langley, BC) took a brilliant feed from defender Patrick Kelly (2nd yr, Cochrane, AB) and opened the scoring in the fifth minute of play.

The rest of the first half was battled back and forth with TWU having the better scoring opportunities, only to be stiffed by Pronghorn keeper Marcel Galaskiewicz.

The Spartans struck again early in the second half, on a goal by Justin Cordik in the 55th minute to give the visitors a 2-0 lead. A late surge by the Horns, that included two crossbars, proved to be not enough and TWU left with a 2-0 win.

The Horns fell to 1-3, while Trinity moved to 2-0-3 on the season.

TWU keeper Jacob Hanson (5th yr, Powell River, BC) made five saves to earn the shut-out for the seventh ranked Spartans.

Next up for the Spartans is at the University of Calgary on Sunday, October 02, 2005. Match time is set for 2:15 pm at the U of C.
