Nov 10 Quarterfinals Postponed

IMPORTANT NOTICE

2005 CIS men’s soccer championship
Thursday games postponed due to bad weather

Nov. 10, 2005

OTTAWA (CIS) – CIS announced at 10 a.m. ET that the four quarter-final games scheduled for Thursday (opening day) at the 2005 CIS men’s soccer championship in Charlottetown have been postponed until Friday due to extreme weather.

Winds of up to 72 kilometres an hour forced the CIS and the University of Prince Edward Island organizing committee to make the decision early Thursday morning.

“We met with all parties involved including head coaches from the eight participating teams and all agreed that today’s weather was not suitable for the presentation of the first day of the championship,” said CIS Manager Events & Programs, Sheila-Ann Newton who is on site in Charlottetown.

Below is a revised scheduled for the championship, as well as the original schedule (included for comparison purposes). Changes are:

- The four quarter-finals match-ups scheduled for Thursday are moved to Friday (same time except Game #4, to be played 30 minutes earlier than originally scheduled);

- The only games originally scheduled for Friday, the two consolation semi-finals, are moved to Saturday, before the championship semi-finals;

- The championship semi-finals will be played one hour, and 30 minutes later than originally scheduled, respectively.

- The consolation final (fifth-place game) originally scheduled for Saturday will be played on Sunday morning.

- Sunday’s bronze-medal game will be played 30 minutes later than originally scheduled.
