Spartan Soccer Alum Coach of Alberta's Club Team of the Year

LANGLEY, British Columbia - Trinity Western University Spartans men's soccer assistant coach Troye Flannery was apart of plenty of victories on the soccer pitch in 2007, as he was on staff when the Spartans won their third straight Canada West gold medal. But he also had plenty of success as a club coach in Calgary before arriving at TWU, as his former team, a U-16 girl's soccer club team called the Foothills Colts, were awarded the Alberta Soccer Association Adidas 2007 Golden Shoe Award which recognizes the top club team in Alberta. They also received the ASA Fair Play Award.

The Colts were undefeated in 2007 playing in tournaments around the province and across the continent. They compiled a 41-0-3 record, with 189 goals scored and just 24 goals against. The team won the Outdoor National and Provincial Championships, the CMSA League Play Title, the Indoor Provincial Championship, the Sisco Premier U-16 tournament in Saskatoon, and also won tournaments in Calgary, Dallas, Vancouver and Toronto.

This was Troye's first season on the TWU men's soccer coaching staff, where he is also the Director for the Spartan Centre of Excellence. He is a Spartan alum who played for current head coach Al Alderson, and also had a stint as a player/coach in the USL with the now defunct Calgary Storm.
