SPARTANS SHOW WELL AGAINST NCAA's WASHINGTON AND PORTLAND

SEATTLE - The Trinity Western University men's soccer team had a solid showing in Saturday's matches against top NCAA Div. 1 tournament teams the University of Washington and Portland University Saturday afternoon in Seattle, Wash. The Spartans tied the Huskies 0-0 in the morning match before falling 1-0 to the Pilots in the afternoon match.

"We had a lot of injuries going into this weekend and for our guys to play two tough games back-to-back against two top level teams makes me incredibly proud," said TWU head coach Al Alderson. "It was a real good day for us, the guys did a fantastic job and even though we were short handed we were able to create some quality chances in both matches."

The Huskies are coming off back-to-back trips to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, compiling an overall record of 9-8-4 in 2007. While the Pilots posted a 10-6-5 overall record during the 2007 season and made the program's 13th NCAA Tournament appearance.

Next up for the Spartans is against the Vancouver Whitecaps Residency team on Wednesday, March 5th. Match time at TWU is set for 5:30 p.m.

The Spartans will be hosting the Vancouver Whitecaps USL squad on Wednesday, April 2.
