SPARTANS LIVE IN SPOKANE
LANGLEY, British Columbia – The Trinity Western University men’s soccer team will be taking on the Gonzaga University Bulldogs Tuesday, September 1 at 4 p.m. in Spokane, Wash.
If you cannot make it to the match in Spokane you can follow the match live from the Gonzaga Athletics website. The Bulldogs will be providing live statistics as well as a live video feed of the afternoon match-up.
Gonzaga University and Trinity Western University aren’t strangers, the two teams having played exhibition contests three times in recent years. The two clubs have also hooked up for spring matches. But this is the first time the result will count on the Gonzaga record. The Bulldogs have claimed all three exhibition matches – 3-1 in 2006, 4-0 in 2007 and 3-0 last season. All three were played at Gonzaga.

Trinity Western finishes their pre-season matches on Friday night when they will return home to host Simon Fraser on Sept. 4. Match time is set for 7:15 p.m. The Spartans kick off the Canada West season on Fri., Sept. 12 and Sat. Sept. 13 when they will travel to the prairies to take on the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Alberta. TWU home opener is on Fri. Sept. 18 when they will host the University of Calgary followed by the University of Lethbridge on Sat. Sept. 19.
This fall Trinity Western will be the proud hosts of the 2009 CIS men's soccer championships. With their host position the Spartans’ men’s team will set a TWU school record with five straight CIS men's soccer championship appearances. The Spartans have won three national championship medals (silver in 2008 and 2006 and bronze in 2005, they were fifth in 2007), and have finished as Canada West regular season champions in 2003, 2004, and 2007. They also won three straight Canada West Championships in 2005, 2006, and 2007, before finishing with silver in 2008.
