FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ROWSE MAKES IT BACK-TO-BACK SPARTANS
EDMONTON – This morning Canada West announced that the Spartans David Rowse has been named Canada West male Athlete of the Week. Rowse makes it two in a row for the Spartan men, who last week saw Nathan Pogue claim AoW honours.
Rowse, a fourth-year forward, scored two goals to help lead the No. 3 Spartans to two wins this past weekend and remain unbeaten in Canada West.
Rowse opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, helping the Spartans to a 3-2 win over the Fraser Valley Cascades (1-5-0) on Saturday. On Sunday he again opened the scoring in the 11th minute with the match-winner to lead the Spartans to a 3-0 win over the No. 2 Victoria Vikes (3-2-1).
The Business student from St. Albert, Alta. is tied for the top spot in Canada West in scoring with four goals on the season and goals per game average of 0.67.
At 4-0-2 the 2008 CIS silver medalist Spartans are in first place and now return home to host UBC (4-2-0) on Friday, Oct. 2. The Spartans will return to the CIS championship for the fifth straight season this year as hosts on Nov. 12-15.
