FINAL FOUR PREVIEW

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MEN’S SOCCER TO PLAY UBC IN CANADA WEST SEMIFINAL

LANGLEY, British Columbia –
After finishing third in the Canada West standings, the Trinity Western men’s soccer team qualified for the playoffs for the eighth time in the last nine years and will play No. 5 ranked UBC in the Final Four semifinal Saturday at 12:00 p.m. in Victoria.

The Spartans finished the regular season with an 8-4-2 record but needed a pair of 1-0 victories over Lethbridge and Calgary on the last weekend of the season to squeak into the playoffs where they will face their rivals from Point Grey.

This season the Spartans were 0-1-1 against UBC as they tied 1-1 at home and lost 1-0 on the road.

If Victoria, who will host the CIS national championship Nov. 10-13 and thus get an automatic berth, wins over Alberta in the other semifinal, a win over UBC in the semifinal would qualify the Spartans for the national championship. If Alberta beats Victoria, then the Spartans would need to beat both UBC and Alberta to get to the final dance.
