Spartans Tie Beavers in Pre-Season Opener
Langley, British Columbia - The Trinity Western University men's soccer team began the 2004 preseason with a solid effort against Oregon State University (NCAA Division I). The Spartans traveled to Corvallis, OR and came away with a 1-1 draw Friday afternoon against the hometown Beavers.
TWU's Justin Cordick (2nd yr, midfielder, Anmore, BC) opened the scoring in the 36th minute with his first goal as a Spartan. Cordick took a feed from teammate Josh McCaig (3rd yr, forward, Mission, BC) to put the Spartans up 1-0.
The Spartans carried the 1-0 lead into the break and for most of the second half.
Then the home squad got the break they needed in the 80th minute. Oregon attacked the Spartan net and was able to get a rebound off of TWU keeper Jacob Hanson (4th yr, Powel River, BC) and slot for the tying goal
