TWU Spartans (1) vs. the Cape Breton University Capers (0) - 4-2 PK
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SPARTANS BEAT CBU IN SHOOTOUT, TO PLAY IN CONSOLATION FINAL
VANCOUVER - Rookie keeper Andrew Fink turned aside two shots in the penalty shootout to backstop the Trinity Western Spartans to a 1-0 (4-2 PKs) victory over the Cape Breton Capers in the first of two consolation-round games at the CIS men's soccer championship on Friday.
The Spartans advance to Saturday's fifth-place game against the winner of Saint Mary's, who beat Montreal.
The Consolation Final will be played at Trinity Western University in Langley, B.C. Match time is set for 12:30 p.m.

Fink, who also made seven saves during regulation, ranged to his right to deny Murat Sakru's opening offering in the shootout, then stoned Connor Timmons in the fourth round to set the table for Adrian Kekec's clincher.
Justin Farenik, Paul Hamilton and Justin Cordick also scored for the Spartans, while Ricardo Marquez and Kwame Osei hit the back of the net for the Capers.
"I approach (shootouts) all same, regardless of importance or where they're going to send us," said Fink, whose Canada West championship side lost 1-0 in a shootout to Western Ontario on Thursday. "I think it's a terrible way to win or lose, but at the end of the day the game's got to end sometime."
"We're a team with lots of pride. We were quite disappointment (losing in the quarterfinals) but we've still got a lot to prove and that's the way we approached today and the way we'll approach tomorrow as well," added the Canada West first team all-star.
Cape Breton had more opportunities to win in regulation. Sukru struck a curling shot from the top of the box late in the first half that forced Fink to make a diving save. The midfielder later found himself in close as the Capers came on in the final 15 minutes of the second half, but he was denied by the left boot of Fink. Seconds later, Silvano Radjkovic's low cross was cleared away by Spartan defender Brayden Volkenant before it could be tapped in.
In the dying seconds of injury time, Osei was sprung by Radjkovic but his shot from 15 yards sailed high.
Outshot 7-3 on net, Trinity Western's best chance came midway through the second half when forward Nathan Pogue found some room dead on from about 15 yards but didn't do enough with his shot. Shortly after, Josh Weinberger's diving header sailed wide of the right post after a neat free kick in from Jake Jorgenson at midfield.
"Cape Breton deserved to win, we didn't, and we won on penalty kicks," said Trinity Western head coach Al Alderson, whose Spartans outplayed Western in their quarterfinal loss. "A wonderful game this is," he quipped.
