TRINITY WESTERN TOPS WESTERN WASHINGTON IN FRIENDLY

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - The Trinity Western University men's soccer team used three high-light reel goals to defeat the Western Washington University Vikings 3-1 Tuesday evening at Whatcom Community College in Bellingham, Wash.

"It was a very entertaining match that had some spectacular goals by our guys," commented TWU head coach Al Alderson.

The Spartans Mustafa Demirci (Ankara, Turkey) opened the scoring in the ninth minute when he roofed a ball into the top left corner from the right side of the park.

TWU midfielder Nathan Square-Briggs (Richmond, B.C.) made it 2-0 for the visitors in the 30th minute when he hit a volley from 30 yards out the dipped nicely into the top left corner of the Vikings net.

Fourth year forward Adrian Kekec (Burnaby, B.C.) got the Spartans final goal when he bent a free kick high into the top left corner in the 70th minute to give the visitors from Langley a 3-0 lead.

Western Washington scored in the 83rd minute to ruin TWU keeper Andrew Kowan's (Richmond, B.C.) shut-out bid.

The Spartans will now return home for their final home match of the 2008 spring season. TWU host's NCAA Div. I Gonzaga University Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon at TWU's Spartan Field. Match time is set for 3 p.m.
