SPARTANS AND CASCADES DRAW IN CANADA WEST SEASON FINALE
-TWU looks to the post season

ABBOTSFORD, British Columbia - Trinity Western University forward Daniel Lowen (2nd year, Langley, B.C.) scored in the 51st minute to give the Spartans a 1-1 draw with the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades Saturday afternoon at Bateman Park in Abbotsford, B.C.

"It was very evident that UFV was interested in getting a result, while our guys, knowing that we were already in the play-offs were uninterested," said TWU head coach Al Alderson. "It was disappointing that we came out as flat as we did. But we made some adjustments and we actually got better and better as the game went on."

Craig Robinson's (Chilliwack, BC) team-leading seventh goal of the year gave Fraser Valley a 1-0 advantage. A corner by Ethan Claibourne-Collins (Chilliwack, BC) was headed past Spartans keeper Andrew Kowan (2nd year, Richmond, B.C.) by Robinson in the seventh minute.

Fraser Valley held that lead through half time, and into the second quarter, until Daniel Lowen tied the game in the 51st minute. Forward David Rowse (4th year, St. Albert, Alta.) was credited with the assist.

It appeared Adrian Kekec (5th year, Burnaby, B.C.) would give the Spartans the lead in the 71st minute when he was left alone in front of Kristjan Johannson (North Delta, BC), but the Cascades keeper dove across the goal line to make the save. "I am incredibly happy with Adrian's performance. He had an outstanding second half," said Alderson.

Each team finished with 10 shots on goal.

"With a young line-up we were very good in the second half and we finished off the regular season strong," said Alderson. "So as we head into next weeks playoffs we are hoping that our young team will play to their abilities. We are incredibly talented, but we are just young and not consistent yet. But every game we get better and we hope that we will be consistent for the playoffs."

The Spartans now prepare for the Canada West play-offs next week in Victoria. Depending on tomorrow's results the Spartans will open against the host University of Victoria Vikes or against the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds.
